My new favorite hobby:

Placing my face on my wife's tummy, and humming to the baby. He responds by kicking my cheek and being a happy boy.

It doesn't get less exciting each time the baby kicks. It's really something special. Puts my day into perspective.

Nothing really baby related, but a few passings that probably should be noted. These weren't really people that were close to us, in fact I haven't met either of them, but still.

Mike died, and he's my wife's older daughter's husband's mother's boyfriend. My stepdaughter's mother-in-law's boyfriend, if that's any easier to fanthom. Word was they were going to be married soon, and he died from complications from surgery. Like I said, never met the guy, only met stepdaughter's mother-in-law once in passing. I guess she decided to keep Mike in the bedroom, while people visited and paid their respects. Like he would be lying in bed. I'm serious. Don't know what to think of that.

Then my father-in-law's sister died on the 4th, my wife's Aunt Ruth. Again, don't know her, but she was having health problems.

I don't know what I would do if someone close to me was to pass away. I've had both my grandpas die, both in their eighties, and my favorite uncle also died a while back, but I was so removed physically and emotionally (being I didn't see them very much) that I was sad, but not devastated. I would have no idea how I would deal with something like that. It all seems so strange, that mortality thing.

Went to work.

Came home.

Mowed the lawn.

Imagined Alex running through the short grass and giggling happily.

Also, Alex kicked me a few times when I laid my head on her tummy, and that really made me happy. Such a little troublemaker.

Stressed about all the stuff, weddings and appointments, hope to pull through.
